چکیده

We document our Fortran 77 code for multicanonical simulations of 4D U(1) lattice gauge theory in the neighborhood of its phase transition. This includes programs and routines for canonical simulations using biased Metropolis heatbath updating and overrelaxation, determination of multicanonical weights via a Wang-Landau recursion, and multicanonical simulations with fixed weights supplemented by overrelaxation sweeps. Measurements are performed for the action, Polyakov loops and some of their structure factors. Many features of the code transcend the particular application and are expected to be useful for other lattice gauge theory models as well as for systems in statistical physics. Program Summary Program title: STMC U1MUCA Program obtainable from: Temporarily from URL http://www.hep.fsu.edu/~berg/research . Distribution format: tar.gz Programming language: Fortran 77 Computer: Any capable of compiling and executing Fortran code. Operating system: Any capable of compiling and executing Fortran code. Nature of problem: Efficient Markov chain Monte Carlo simulation of U(1) lattice gauge theory close to its phase transition. Measurements and analysis of the action per plaquette, the specific heat, Polyakov loops and their structure factors. Solution method: Multicanonical simulations with an initial Wang-Landau recursion to determine suitable weight factors. Reweighting to physical values using logarithmic coding and calculating jackknife error bars. Running time: The prepared tests runs took up to 74 minutes to execute on a 2GHz PC.

Generalized ensemble algorithm for U(1) gauge theory

The four dimensional pure compact U(1) gauge theory is known to posses a phase transition (PT) separating a confined phase and a Coulomb one and the determination of the order of PT is of great importance. In the pure compact U(1) gauge theory, however, the determination of the order of PT is very difficult since on large lattices the standard updating algorithms like Metropolis, heat-bath, hyb...

We describe results of a high-statistics finite size scaling analysis of 4d compact U(1) lattice gauge theory with Wilson action at the phase transition point. Using a multicanonical hybrid Monte Carlo algorithm we generate data samples with more than 150 tunneling events between the metastable states of the system, on lattice sizes up to 18 4. We performed a first analysis within the Borgs-Kot...

Simulations of N = 2 super Yang - Mills theory in two dimensions

We present results from lattice simulations of N = 2 super Yang-Mills theory in two dimensions. The lattice formulation we use was developed in [1] and retains both gauge invariance and an exact (twisted) supersymmetry for any lattice spacing. Results for both U(2) and SU(2) gauge groups are given. We focus on supersymmetric Ward identities, the phase of the Pfaffian resulting from integration ...

سیستمهای الکترونی همبسته قوی در شبکه‌های ناکام

We give an overview of recent work on charge degrees of freedom of strongly correlated electrons on geometrically frustrated lattices. Special attention is paid to the checkerboard lattice, i.e., the two-dimensional version of a pyrochlore lattice and to the kagomé lattice. For the checkerboard lattice it is shown that at half filling when spin degrees of freedom are neglected and at quarter f...

Gauge Invariance and Confinement in Noncompact Simulations of Su(2)

In 1980 Creutz [1] displayed quark confinement at moderate coupling in lattice simulations of both abelian and nonabelian gauge theories. Whether nonabelian confinement is as much an artifact of Wilson’s action as is abelian confinement remains unclear. The basic variables of Wilson’s formulation [2] are elements of a compact group and enter the action only through traces of their products. The...
